|Exclusions arrangements||We reserve the right to use exclusion from school on either a fixed-term or permanent basis. Decisions to apply this sanction rest with the Executive Headteacher and Head of School. Exclusion is a serious sanction and must be reasonable and proportionate. Careful consideration must be given to the nature of the incident and full account taken of the student’s age, any special educational needs or disability they may have and any religious requirements affecting them. The indicative sanctions table indicates the type of incident that might warrant exclusion, but the list within the table is not exhaustive. Reintegration meetings should always follow a period of fixed term-exclusion.|

|16-19 Qualifications on offer|
|How we meet the 16-19 study programme requirements||MV16 offers a wide variety of A-Level courses, ranging from the traditional facilitating subjects to courses not normally available in secondary school. In addition we offer a small number Level 3 BTEC courses. We have over 30 courses on offer and the flexibility to combine almost any subjects. Choosing subjects to study post 16 is both exciting and demanding. We place great emphasis on pre-course guidance and the college is committed to ensuring that all students start on the course that is right for them. |
Our curriculum is regularly reviewed to ensure it meets a range of progression pathways based on the individual aims and aspirations of students.
Our aspirations and expectations are extremely high which have led to a number of places Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities. We are proud of our partnerships with local and national HE institutions and employers who provide a range of pathways for students who wish to follow either an academic or degree apprenticeship pathway as part of their next phase of learning.
Support for learning and success extends far beyond the classroom. Built into the working week are opportunities for independent study and enrichment activities along with time to meet with a dedicated team of academic tutors. At MV16 students benefit from their own personal tutor who will monitor their progress, achievement and approach to learning on a regular basis offering one-to-one support.
The college prides itself on offering specialist A-Level teaching combining education with a wide and varied range of enrichment and curriculum opportunities that give you the very best education and preparation for further study at university or application for higher apprenticeships. The working day starts at 8.50 am and finishes at 3.30 pm Monday–Friday. However, most students make the use of the extended working hours with the college being open from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Our ethos and approach to learning is frequently commented on by visitors to the college. At MV16 we believe that people make a college and the positive relationships between students and staff are highly reflective of this.|
Our aim is to fully develop students’ skills, values and interests beyond the classroom, so they develop as articulate and confident young people. We provide an extensive extra-curricular programme with high levels of engagement from the majority of our students.
Nothing is more important than enriching young people’s lives and we pride ourselves at MV16 with the wide variety of opportunities we can offer our students in conjunction with their academic study.

|Anti-bullying policy||The aim of our anti-bullying policy is to clarify for students and staff that bullying is always unacceptable. We wish to encourage an environment where independence is celebrated and individuals can flourish without fear. Every student has the right to be safe and happy, and to be protected when feeling vulnerable.|

|Equality Objectives||MV16 Equality Objectives 2020-2023|
Our equality objectives are based on our analysis of data and other information. Our equality objectives focus on those areas where we have agreed to take action to improve equality, inclusivity and tackle disadvantages.
We will regularly review the progress we are making to meet our equality objectives.
Our Equality Objectives are:
• To improve the progress and attainment of SEND pupils.
• To promote mental health and wellbeing in students with protected characteristics.
• To narrow the gap in attendance for pupils with protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act, by fostering good relationships with parents and carers and seeking to understand the barriers to good attendance.
• To increase the extent to which all pupils, including in particular those with protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act, feel valued and confident, and in consequence more likely to achieve their potential.
• To narrow the gap between vulnerable groups of pupils and other pupils in access to homework support provision, and in this way to reduce or remove inequalities in attainment throughout the school, particularly inequalities relating to the protected characteristics listed in the Equality Act.
• To ensure that the staff are aware of current legislation surrounding Equality, Diversity and Disability and their responsibilities.
|Careers Guidance and Access For Education and Training Providers Policy Statement||Whether you are opting to go to university or considering a Higher or Degree Apprenticeship, post 18 advice and guidance at MV16 is plentiful. Students benefit from extensive and experienced support with the UCAS process including preparation for Oxbridge, Russell Group universities and specialised courses such as Veterinary and Medicine. In addition, access to master classes through our partnership universities is promoted along with residential masterclasses such as Villiers Park, Cambridge University and Oxford University. Opportunities to attend open days and higher education fairs are actively promoted. In addition, students will have a close working relationship with our own personal careers adviser who offers high quality, impartial advice and guidance for higher level studies and/ or their chosen career.|
Careers guidance starts as early as the application process in Year 11. Through a series of assemblies, open events, taster days and where necessary one to one interviews, students are guided onto A level courses which best suit their aspirations. MV16 liaise with local secondary schools to ensure students are aware of post 16 and post 18 pathways at the college.
Careers guidance is bespoke and tailored to the individual MV16. Opportunities for support are plentiful with advice given by an experienced and dedicated careers team.
