Decisions to apply this sanction rest with the Executive Headteacher and Head of School. Exclusion is a serious sanction and must be reasonable and proportionate. Careful consideration must be given to the nature of the incident and full account taken of the student’s age, any special educational needs or disability they may have and any religious requirements affecting them. The indicative sanctions table indicates the type of incident that might warrant exclusion, but the list within the table is not exhaustive. Our curriculum is regularly reviewed to ensure it meets a range of progression pathways based on the individual aims and aspirations of students. Our aspirations and expectations are extremely high which have led to a number of places Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities. We are proud of our partnerships with local and national HE institutions and employers who provide a range of pathways for students who wish to follow either an academic or degree apprenticeship pathway as part of their next phase of learning. Equality Objectives
Equality Objectives | MV16 Equality Objectives 2020-2023 Our equality objectives are based on our analysis of data and other information. Our equality objectives focus on those areas where we have agreed to take action to improve equality, inclusivity and tackle disadvantages. We will regularly review the progress we are making to meet our equality objectives. Our Equality Objectives are: • To improve the progress and attainment of SEND pupils. • To promote mental health and wellbeing in students with protected characteristics. • To narrow the gap in attendance for pupils with protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act, by fostering good relationships with parents and carers and seeking to understand the barriers to good attendance. • To increase the extent to which all pupils, including in particular those with protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act, feel valued and confident, and in consequence more likely to achieve their potential. • To narrow the gap between vulnerable groups of pupils and other pupils in access to homework support provision, and in this way to reduce or remove inequalities in attainment throughout the school, particularly inequalities relating to the protected characteristics listed in the Equality Act. • To ensure that the staff are aware of current legislation surrounding Equality, Diversity and Disability and their responsibilities. |
